The notes on his son Vincenzo's wedding certificate indicate that he was still 'vivo' in 1873.

The notes on his grandson Emmanuele's birth certificate indicate that he was still 'vivo' in 1876.

 

The marriage entry in the Adami Collection gives his surname as FRIGIERI.

On her son Vincenzo's baptismal certificate her maiden surname is incorrectly spelled as MEZZUNI.

 

The notes on her son Vincenzo's wedding certificate indicate that she was still 'viva' in 1873.

 

 

It would be interesting to discover a connection between Paola and the famous Italian poet and novelist Alessandro Manzoni (b. March 7, 1785, Milan--d. May 22, 1873, Milan), whose novel I promessi sposi had immense patriotic appeal for Italians of the nationalistic Risorgimento period and is generally ranked among the masterpieces of world literature.

It is interesting to note that the marriage certificate states the profession of the witnesses as:

"serviente nella chiesa Parrochiale di S Publio della Floriana".

I would normally expect friends or family to witness the wedding.

Also, the certificate is dated November 22, 1873 but there is a footnote inscription in Italian which confirms that the marriage actually took place on October 21, 1873 (as per information supplied by genealogist Joe Borg).

These anomalies lead me to speculate that the couple had a secret wedding.
