Notes for HENRI FRIGGERI:
Following French defeat in June 1940, he returned to
Morocco.
Recalled in 1942 at Temara, Morocco to join General
Leclerc in the Forces Francaises Libres.
Joined General Patton's army in Sicily as an officer
in the Moroccan Regiment under the command of Colonel Buot de l'Epine.
Severely wounded at Montecassino. Recovered at the US
Military Hospital in Naples.
Rejoined his regiment in North Eastern France, crossed
the Rhine and was wounded again at Offenburg, Germany.
In 1946, he took up a posting in the Rif mountains of
Morocco as an 'officier des affaires indegenes'.
In 1956, on Morocco's independance, he was appointed
Military Attache in the French Diplomatic Corps.
Between 1958 and 1962, he was a Colonel in the
Algerian War.
In 1962, he was appointed to the Military Cabinet of
the Ministry of Defence in Paris.
He retired from military service in 1974 and became
Head of a Department at the 'Ecole Centrale de Paris'.
